Deborah Sampson
This month Crazy Woman Cellars honors Deborah Sampson. A woman who refused to let the limitations of her time define her. Born in 1760, she grew up during the American Revolution when women were expected to remain on the sidelines. Instead, Deborah made the courageous decision to disguise herself as a man and enlist in the Continental Army under the name Robert Shurtliff.
